3 Prayers for the Graduate Moving Far from Home

In your recent place, things are different. More than the rest, the individuals are different since you couldn’t take everyone from back home with you. Sometimes, when you concentrate on it, that’s a superb thing. But sometimes you simply wish you might have the things and those who make you are feeling at home. I bet, in case you give it some thought long enough, you’ve found recent things and a number of recent those who make you are feeling at home.

If you haven’t done it already, take out the photos, play the music, and wear the outfit that makes you are feeling at home. If you haven’t home-i-fied your current spot, now could be the time to do it. Through dishes you’re keen on (like literal cups and plates), a well-worn pan that cooks your favorite dishes excellent, and the ingredients you wish nearby to whip up your favorite recipes, make that house a house. If it’s your favorite video game (you brought it, right?), or a poster, and even your old bat that you just only use from time to time to get in a number of swings, be fully you in your recent space. And also, remember this:

“If anyone loves me, he’ll keep my word; and My Father will love him and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” – John 14:23

I pray that you already know you usually have a house with Jesus.

When you might want to be reminded of your private home with Jesus, just set foot into God’s house. By God’s house, I mean a church. It may take you some time to seek out the church that seems like home or the closest thing to it, but don’t let your seek for the right church for at once keep you out of church at once. Even a church that isn’t the long-term best fit can remind you of key guarantees from the scriptures. One of those reminders is in Ephesians 2:19,

“You belong in God’s house with every other believer. Now, subsequently, you aren’t any longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow residents with the saints and members of the household of God.”

So irrespective of where you might be, keep in mind that you may have a house with God because He makes His home with you. And you might be at home if you visit any church that names Jesus Lord.

A Prayer for When You Are Homesick at College

Dear God,
You are my home. You are the one who accepts me the way in which I’m, and also you’re the one who desires to be with me on a regular basis. You literally won’t ever leave me. Help me to feel your presence in the surface, natural world around me, and within the comforts that help make this place my recent home. Lead me to the places that remind me I’m loved, including a house of worship, your church. Fill me up a lot with that feeling of home that I’ll search for anyone who could be struggling and feeling like an outsider, and help me to make them feel welcome on this recent place. I trust you with the remainder. “Hear my cry, O God, Attend to my prayer. From the tip of the earth I’ll cry to You. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that’s higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, A powerful tower from the enemy.” (Psalm 61:1-3)
In Christ’s name,
Amen.
