Peace is one in every of those innate desires of the human heart. It is a necessity that we’ve even on the deepest level of our souls. We all long for it, and in a world full of turmoil and upheaval, with wars, rumors of wars, horrific news reports, and chaos in all places we glance, it is simple to seek out yourself living a life that longs for peace, for quiet and calm.
In the bible, Shalom is the Hebrew word used, which implies peace. C. Plantinga, a Christian creator, tells us Shalom means greater than just peace. It means “Universal flourishing, wholeness, and delight – a wealthy state of affairs wherein natural needs are satisfied and natural gifts fruitfully employed, a state of affairs that inspires joyful wonder as its Creator and Savior opens doors and welcomes the creatures in whom he delights. Shalom, in other words,” he declares Shalom, “is the best way things should be.” Oh, to live in a world where we will state things are the best way they should be, how God ordained them to be initially of scripture in Genesis 1 and a pair of.
Thankfully, as Christians, we will know peace in our hearts even when peace shouldn’t be the word we might use to define our surroundings. Scripture tells us that peace shouldn’t be only present in Jesus but can be the prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). One of the most effective ways to lean into God once we are struggling is to hope scripture.
