Church Times Train-A-Priest (TAP) Fund

THE Church Times Train-A-Priest (TAP) Fund, now greater than 60 years old, had benefited commonly throughout its life from legacies left by generous and thoughtful readers. Anyone who wishes to support the continuing work of the Church may recognise it as a method to provide much-needed help to those that offer themselves for the priesthood, often sacrificing time and salaries to coach for parish work.

A big legacy a number of years ago implies that TAP grants can be found to any English ordinands who experience financial difficulties. (These are disbursed by the Ministry Division.) Thus now we have been capable of turn our attention to ordinands in Africa, a lot of whom lack the essential support for themselves and their families that is offered in wealthier countries.

Thanks to 2 legacies this 12 months, now we have already overtaken last 12 months’s total (£25,762.96): halfway through Lent, the TAP Fund this week stands at £29,080.12 — though this continues to be low compared with some past years. Please consider including a sum or a percentage of your estate to the TAP Fund in your will.

But, in fact, we welcome donations now. As regular readers will know, every penny donated goes on to those in training within the poorest African countries.
