Will justice ever be done within the grooming gang scandal?

Stories just like the one above from Oxford have been told up and down the country for a long time now and nothing has been done.

The publishing of the Casey report is welcome in that it would possibly lead the federal government to confess what everyone else has known for quite a while, that there’s a major problem inside the male section of this country’s Pakistani community.

This will not be to say that only Pakistanis engage in this sort of crime, but they’re massively over-represented and for years have been protected by the authorities who felt that protecting “community relations” and appearing to not be “racist” was more essential than protecting children from disgusting predators.

I’m reminded of my least favourite passage of the Bible, Judges 19:22-25:

“Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the boys of the town, certain sons of Belial, beset the home round about, and beat on the door, and spake to the master of the home, the old man, saying, Bring forth the person that got here into thine house, that we may know him.

“Behold, here is my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I’ll bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man don’t so vile a thing.

“But the boys wouldn’t be all ears to him: so the person took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; they usually knew her, and abused her all of the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.” 

By being lenient to the perpetrators of those crimes, we usually are not ‘turning the opposite cheek’ or showing mercy. For one thing, it will not be our cheek that’s being turned. What we’ve got done as a society is to permit young girls to be ravaged and abused while we sit safely indoors and pat ourselves on the back at how tolerant and multicultural we’re.

Those who desired to keep this under the rug in order to not be ‘racist’ or give ammunition to the ‘far right’ have failed miserably, and ought to be held to account. The authorities must have come down hard on this at the primary whiff of trouble, quite than letting it grow to be a ‘far-right issue’.

My own position is to agree with those calling for deportation for all involved within the crimes and others inside the Pakistani community who knew about it and said nothing, and sackings for those in authority who did nothing and even covered it up.

Personally, I’d go further. Those social employees, police and others who knew what was occurring and did nothing for fear of being called racist also needs to go to jail as accomplices. 

A transparent message must be sent. The stories we’ve had to listen to should never be repeated.

Ye shall subsequently keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of those [sexual] abominations; neither any of your personal nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth amongst you.”
