Porn has a dark underworld that rarely gets exposed on camera. The truth often comes out when people leave the porn industry. Many of those persons are broken, hurting, and emotionally destroyed. Though they paint images of getting fun, pleasure, and living their best life while within the industry, the reality is usually much different. It is a world full of abuse, drug addiction, STDs, and lots of suicides. Here are two quotes from former porn actors.
“Of course I lied to my fans. I led them to consider I lived a fantasy life that was removed from the reality. I fed into their fantasies. I said I wanted sex 24/7 and made it seem to be I absolutely loved what I did and was living this blissful life.” Jan Villarubia, ex porn actor.
“It was torture for seven years. I used to be miserable, I used to be lonely, I ultimately turned to drugs and alcohol and attempted suicide. I knew I wanted out, but I didn’t know methods to get out.” Jenna, ex porn actor.
When you select to look at porn, that is what you’re supporting. While you might think porn is solely in your pleasure, that pleasure is on the expense of another person’s pain.
In an interview with UNILAD, here’s what Dr. Gail Dines, a number one anti-porn scholar, said concerning the industry.
“What I do know, because I’ve been doing this work for a few years and worked with many ladies who’re within the porn industry and have exited it, is that given the violence that happens to their bodies, given the diseases they get, they arrive away with PTSD because they’re raped usually on the porn set.
Just because they’ve signed a contract doesn’t mean they’re consenting to what goes on on the porn set. Many of them usually are not prepared for what is going to occur to them. A whole lot of them are young, they usually think they’re going to be a ‘pornstar’…They’re not prepared for the violence.”
As you possibly can see, there’s quite a bit more happening behind the camera, and while you decide to view porn, you’re consenting to and perpetuating this kind of activity.
