Sankta Lucia celebrated at St George’s, Bloomsbury

Jessica Paton, from the London Nordic Choir, wears a crown of candles as a part of the Sankta Lucia celebrations at St George’s, Bloomsbury, in central London, on Thursday of last week. St Lucy (c.283-304), the patron saint of sunshine, was said to be a fantastic maiden who wore a crown of candles to light her way when she carried food to persecuted Christians in Rome who were hiding in caves. Her feast is on 13 December
