7 Things Christians Get Wrong About Persecution

There could also be a policy at our workplace instructing employees to not proselytize. Whether you’re a Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, or Christian, chances are you’ll not be permitted to push your beliefs upon anyone else. If a boss enforces this rule in everyone’s case without discriminating against a specific person or belief, then we aren’t being discriminated against. If you break this rule and get written up, and even fired ultimately, you is not going to be persecuted – unless your view is the just one being treated this fashion.

Make the excellence between casual talk and evangelism. If you speak about faith continually, virtually forcing Jesus down people’s throats, badgering them, and making them uncomfortable, you’re being belligerent and abusive. If, nonetheless, sharing your beliefs comes as a natural a part of the conversation, a solution to questions on the way in which you’re thinking that and live your life, then you must have the opportunity to share naturally. Do not force it. Do not orchestrate it. Let God try this – he’s the Master of timing, creating opportunities where you aren’t searching for them.

Share thoughtfully. Is now an excellent time to inform someone you should eat Jesus’ flesh and drink his blood to be his disciple? After this teaching, “lots of [Jesus] disciples turned back and not walked with him.” (John 6:66). That is strange news for an unbeliever to stomach.

As Erik Raymond says, there are numerous levels of persecution, and you might be facing legitimate oppression straight away. It may not be to the identical degree as a preacher in Russia or an evangelist in a Middle Eastern prison, but even your quiet resistance to emotional abuse in the house may very well be an example of resisting persecution. If you actually are suffering, be sure you gather support around you for those who can. Rely on the Body of Christ to assist. Persecution just isn’t about stoicism or “going it alone.” Every Christian, sharing in Christ’s suffering, also has a responsibility to their brothers and sisters in each literal and figurative chains.
