My life has been a continuous transformation from the moment I gave my life to Jesus. From that moment, it has been a journey of continual transformation by the renewing of my mind in Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans,
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you right into a recent person by changing the way in which you’re thinking that. Then you’ll learn to know God’s will for you, which is sweet and pleasing and excellent.” – Romans 12:2 NLT
The renewal Paul wrote about applies to all the things we’re currently going through. We must actively take and hold every thought captive to Christ in every moment and season of life. Why? Because it’s there that our minds begin to learn to think like Christ. We begin to know why it wasn’t only a funny little wristband on athletes’ wrists that said, ‘What would Jesus do?’ It’s something intended to be our life mantra.
What would Jesus do?
What would he take into consideration my current thoughts? What would he do concerning the current day we’re navigating at work, with our children, spouse, or friends?
What would Jesus do?
How would he say what we’re about to say? How would he love others in a difficult situation that also speaks the reality? He reminds us that the reality sets us free. The continual must grow up and mature in Christ teaches us to let go and permit the Holy Spirit to work in our lives through our minds, thoughts, and lives. In this manner, we journey through the strategy of sanctification on this life, accepting God’s free gift of grace and allowing the Holy Spirit through Christ to mature us as every day rolls on. As we walk with Jesus, we start to look more like him day by day, learning to take our thoughts captive, embrace a renewed mind and life, and, most significantly, love God and others. We were created for a right relationship with God through Christ. We were made to hunt Him for our every need continually.
