TWO girls from St Paul’s Cathedral School have joined the St Paul’s Cathedral Choir as full choristers for the primary time in its 900-year history.
The girls, Lila, 11, and Lois, ten, were formally enrolled at evensong on Sunday, having passed their probation.
The Dean of St Paul’s, the Very Revd Andrew Tremlett, said that the inclusion of girl choristers had been “a long-held ambition” on the Cathedral. The move was first announced in 2022 (News, 13 May 2022).
The Bishop of London, the Rt Revd Sarah Mullally, said: “It was profoundly moving to see the culmination of their exertions, and God-given gifts on show, on the service on Sunday evening. I hope that Lila and Lois may be an inspiration to other young girls.”
