6 Essential Reasons Not to Put Your Hope in Political Elections

It’s that point again. I don’t know if you could have been waiting for it, but that is an election 12 months. While it’s true we now have elections every 12 months, that is the 12 months we vote for a president within the United States. During presidential election season, it looks like all of the emotions and anxieties get ratcheted up a notch. What we all know for certain is one candidate will win, and one will lose because, in every election, this happens. There are years when your party and candidate come out on top, and there are years once they don’t.

For many, when their candidate wins, hope springs everlasting, they usually imagine our country is moving in the correct direction. But when their candidate loses, pessimism sets in, they usually think our country is one step away from God’s judgment. If you could have ever felt this manner after an election, especially a presidential one, then perhaps you’re putting an excessive amount of hope within the end result.

As a follower of Jesus Christ, which is what we’re alleged to be, I need to offer you some the reason why this might be not a very good idea. For you to listen to what I’m about to say, you will need to think practically and biblically and never politically. Honestly, pondering politically is what stokes our emotions anyway, so for one moment, let’s put that aside. Let’s dig into these reasons, and I pray you walk away with more hope than ever before, no matter who wins in November.
