6 Things to Consider When Church No Longer Feels Like Home

Suppose God starts to ignite something within you regarding the subject of starting to seek out one other church. In that case, we call it ‘church shopping,’ I encourage you to hunt God with all your heart and understand what he has for you on the opposite side of your eyes and obedience because sometimes churches are seasonal. I really like the body of Christ and being plugged into the area people church. Sometimes, there are things it’s worthwhile to be mindful of.

6 Reasons to Start Church Shopping

1. Spiritual Maturity

The first one is spiritual maturity. Maybe you are still being fed milk when it is time so that you can be eating meat. Maybe whenever you were first receiving this particular experience, it was just what you needed, but it surely’s time to go deep, wealthy, whole, and fully have some protein alongside the message you are receiving. This means hearing scriptural context, Bible verses which can be in full context, going to the depths of the Greek or the Hebrew understanding behind it, what is going on on within the history of the society, or a prescriptive verse or a descriptive verse. So many things allow us to go deeper into our education, which helps us to further our relationship with Christ.

2. Your Kids Are Not Being Trained Up

The second reason to contemplate church shopping is in case your kids usually are not being trained up. Suppose Sunday to them is only a sugar high, a quiet game, or a babysitting encounter moderately than attending to know Jesus and being trained in how they need to live. Yes, that is a parental responsibility, but it surely is also the church’s responsibility. I’d encourage you to have interaction in what curriculum they’re going through. Ask in the event that they are worshiping. Are children having time within the scripture and the word? What are they really learning as a technique to develop that?

3. No Connection or Community

Consider an absence of familial connection or community at this stage. Perhaps no person knows your name. Maybe you do not know any names. When you walk into church, do you continue to feel like a stranger, unseen or unknown? If you have been going to the identical church for years, sitting in the identical pew or chair, and do not know the people in front of, behind, or beside you. I’d encourage you to get plugged in. All of these items require ownership. God might speak something good through your pastor, but are you taking that message and applying it to your life maturely throughout the week? If you may have a bent to be introverted or a bent not to attach, engage yourself first. If you have been trying and feel like perhaps there is a cool kids club or not meshing with that exact congregation, I’d encourage you to start out shopping.

4. Lack of Discipleship

Is there an absence of discipleship, or none in any respect? Some churches are very focused on membership and, hopefully, salvation. After the salvation and membership, they fail to return alongside to show and aid you to grow in your faith. Is there a Sunday school class you become involved in? Are there ordained leadership opportunities for you? Are they hosting events or conferences where you may go into those experiences for further discipleship repeatedly? This is so critical. If you may have fully taken ownership in participating in any next steps, Bible studies or small groups provided, and it’s still not effective or deep enough for where you might be on this season of life, consider on the lookout for one other church.

5. Pushing Agendas from the Pulpit

This is a really politically charged season that we’re in immediately, and I think that we are able to 100% incorporate church and state. Jesus spoke to this on a regular basis from a governmental perspective. However, it shouldn’t be agenda-oriented by preference or opinion. It is biblically sound on what we must always be standing on, especially if it’s coming from the pulpit. There should not be pressure to adopt an agenda on one area or one other unless it’s from the Bible. If it’s biblical, then all of us, if we’re Jesus followers and we consider that the entire truth and nothing but the reality is within the word of God, we must always find a way to face together as one voice on behalf of Christ.

6. Unity and Communion

Does the church encourage the congregation to operate as the entire body of Christ? We must be planted in places where we feel like we’re unified and that communion is occurring.

This list is exhaustive in an excellent way, and it should encourage you to buy groceries. When my family and I went purchasing for churches, we had to return and go to quite just a few before we ever felt at home. Pause, analyze and have deep, wealthy conversations. What are your willing to sacrifice? What are you willing to let go of? Processing through these kinds of conversations are going to be what leads you home to recent communion and community.
