Thousands take part in first ever ‘March for Jesus’ in Dublin to share hope of the gospel, pray for Ireland

Twelve thousand Christians, young, old, female and male, and of assorted ethnicities, walked through the middle of town of Dublin in excited solidarity for the religion at the primary ever “March for Jesus.” All Nations Church and Betania Church, each based in town, organized the event on Oct. 26, supported by other churches in each Ireland and Northern Ireland.

They gathered to affirm the Christian identity which has enfolded the peoples of Ireland since missionary St Patrick first arrived within the fifth century AD, in accordance with organizers.

Starting on the Garden of Remembrance, the crowds sang and prayed as they walked, holding wood crosses, waving flags and placards saying, “March for Jesus,” “Jesus is the Way,” “Jesus is Lord,” “Jesus is King,” “Jesus can change your life,” “Jesus loves Dublin” and “Jesus loves Ireland.”

A worship team on an elevated platform positioned upon certainly one of town streets led participants in singing popular songs and hymns, corresponding to “Praise the Lord, Oh my soul” and “How Great Thou Art.”

“We lift that name,” said Andy Campbell, of Healing the Land charity, in front of the gang. “That Jesus is King over Ireland and God, we thanks today you’re still King over Ireland.”

“How lots of you think that Jesus is alive?” asked Pastor John Ahern, of All Nations Church, from the platform and his query was met with an exuberant cheer in response.

Ahern read aloud from Jeremiah 1:10: “See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to construct and to plant.”

The pastor then spoke out seemingly about political decisions and societal selections on the island, each north and south, which stood contrary to gospel values. “I need to wish for the family, I need to wish for our youngsters. I feel that it’s significant that within the windfall of God, that God ordained that we could be here on at the present time. It was arranged months ago but here God says before you were born I knew you.

“We are here to bless our city, we’re here to bless this island each north and south. But we’re not only here to bless because God won’t and can’t bless the whole lot. God won’t bless the shedding of innocent blood. God won’t bless euthanasia. God won’t bless the sexualisation of kids. God won’t bless the erasure of girls. And God won’t bless churches which are so cowardly they refuse to call evil exactly what it’s.”

Ahern then pleaded to God, “standing within the gap for this nation,” asking for blessing on Ireland and Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Europe and the broader world.

Referring to Jesus as the sunshine of the world, he pleaded in prayer for the Irish people to return to God: “that the Irish individuals are going to return back to you, to faith in you, to honoring you, to worshiping you, to declaring that you simply are Lord.”

Several other church and ministry leaders, each female and male, from across the island also spoke and prayed on the event.

Nick Park, Executive Director of the Evangelical Alliance Ireland, expressed his hope for a future Irish Government, which might return its deal with values that align with the Bible.

“I pray for the subsequent government for this nation to be one that you may use to roll back tides of darkness and produce in a restoration of truth and godliness on this nation.”
