What Is the Cure for Worry?

Have you ever spent hours, days, and even months worrying about something that, in the long run, never happened? The philosopher Montaigne said, “My life has been full of terrible misfortune, most of which never happened.”

We can all relate to that statement because we’re liable to worrying about things that never actually occur. A study was done where participants were asked to jot down down all of the things they were anxious about, and in the long run, 85% of what they wrote down never happened. And for the stuff that did occur, it didn’t actually prove as badly as they’d made it out to be. I am unable to let you know how repeatedly I’ve ruined a superbly good time because I got anxious. I began considering, “What if something ‘blank’ happens?”

Stress and anxiety are nothing recent. King Solomon talked about this exact thing in Ecclesiastes 2:22-25 when he says,

“What do people get for all of the toil and anxious striving with which they labor under the Sun? All their days, their work is grief and pain, and even at night, their minds don’t rest. This, too, is meaningless.
An individual could do nothing higher than eat and drink and find satisfaction in their very own toil. This, too, I see, is from the hand of God. Without him, who can eat or find enjoyment?”

Solomon is saying, in its simplest terms, to sit back out a bit and learn to enjoy life. Life could be difficult, there isn’t a doubt about that, however it’s also full of plenty of great things. Time spent with family, hobbies, and possibly even parts of your work are enjoyable, but there is not any point ruining the great times by worrying concerning the bad times.

We must learn to be present and luxuriate in the moment straight away. There is nothing improper with having fun with life. I think having fun with the life God gave us is definitely a type of gratitude.

I like it when my daughter tells me “thanks” for something I’ve given her, but what really gets me excited is seeing her having fun with and fidgeting with something I gave her. I feel our Heavenly Father is identical. Paul actually talked to Timothy concerning the importance of putting our hope in God, who richly provides us with every part to enjoy.

So may we be those that refuse to let worry and concern about what could go improper spoil our ability to enjoy the great things God has given us right here and now. And there’s a complete lot to be glad about. Let’s concentrate on those things.
