Hundreds of individuals form the number 950 last week for the offical launch of Chichester950, the year-long celebrations to mark Chichester Cathedral’s 950th anniversary. The Dean of Chichester, the Very Revd Dr Edward Dowler, said: “It felt right to start by coming together to create a long-lasting visual that captures not only the material of the Cathedral, however the individuals who bring it to life — our staff, volunteers, congregations, local residents, schoolchildren in addition to the broader community who we serve.” Services are planned in every church within the diocese, and an exhibition on Sussex history, “Religion, Rebellion, and Reformation”, will open within the cathedral next Friday and run until 15 November. chichester950.org.uk
