THREE camels and the magi recreated the journey to Bethlehem, on Sunday, at Hereford Cathedral, for the primary of two outdoor services marking the feast of the Epiphany.
“By holding these services outdoors and welcoming everyone — no matter faith or background — we try to assist people understand Christ’s birth is for everybody,” the Bishop of Hereford, the Rt Revd Richard Jackson, said.
“The presence of the camels brings some fun and helps us imagine the long journey to Bethlehem guided by the star.” The three camels were a part of Joseph’s Amazing Camels, an organization based near Stratford, in Warwickshire.
“Today’s services are an invite to all of us to hunt and find Christ in our lives. The enthusiasm of our congregation and visitors, despite the difficult weather, made this a very memorable celebration,” Bishop Jackson said.
