Visiting a physician’s office and hearing you could have cancer can create anxiety for anyone. Dealing with the indisputable fact that you are getting older and single but would like to be married and have kids can create anxiety. Dealing with the financial climate we sometimes experience can result in anxiety. Watching your parents become old or watching someone you like, especially a toddler, suffer. Those things can create anxiety in our lives. Managing family schedules and a job may be stressful.
Anxiety shouldn’t be something we avoid because we’re Christian. Jesus Christ himself was overwhelmed by the circumstances of the crucifixion, resulting in him praying. We learn from Jesus to wish in and thru our anxiety.
The Apostle Paul, who in anxious times would say, “Whatever is sweet, whatever is correct, whatever is gorgeous to repair your mind on those things.” (Philippians 4:8-9) It is feasible, in Christ, to repair our minds. I pray for peace to prevail today as we learn to hunt God in and thru anxious times.
