Why Performing for God’s Favor Will Never Transform Your Heart

Are we performing to earn God’s favor not directly, or have we allowed the love of God to completely inundate us with gratitude for a way much He loved us and what it cost for Him to go to the cross? When we’ve received God’s affection and we accept that it’s applied to us, we’re rather more readily willing to take heed to the Holy Spirit’s voice and to walk in His transformation. The Pharisees didn’t have affection for God and didn’t consider that God loved them. They believed that God was waiting to guage them for a way they behaved. And so their whole goal was behavior modification. Jesus said, no, I offer a complete recent identity, a complete recent life. And once you’ve accepted that and given your allegiance to me as your King, the Messiah, the true God, you’ll fall in step with those behaviors because your heart is transformed first.
