In the months leading as much as my wedding day, I used to be within the means of ending my bachelor’s degree in education. I used to be doing my student teaching on the time at Bensalem High School in Bensalem, PA. I actually enjoyed the teachers I worked with, but I also remember among the conversations we had during our lunches within the teachers’ lounge. When it became known that I used to be about to get married, two teachers who had recently been divorced emphatically told me, “Don’t do it!” Obviously, I didn’t take heed to their counsel.
Just the identical, it was a risk for my wife to marry me and a risk for me to marry her. She can’t control what I do, and I can’t control her. We have each granted one another the facility to interrupt one another’s hearts painfully and severely. I do know many friends and members of the family who’re well acquainted with that pain.
So again I ask, is the danger value it? I believe it’s, but I also encourage others to mitigate that risk as best as possible by marrying someone who consistently demonstrates a real love for Jesus and a sincere willingness to obey Christ’s teaching without making excuses for lapses in judgment.
And whether you’ve experienced a healthy earthly marriage or not, please understand there really is an ideal marriage still in store for you for those who’re united to Jesus Christ by faith.
The greater point of earthly marriage is for instance the right everlasting union between Christ and His church. The body of believers is referred to in Scripture because the “bride” of Christ, and He won’t ever allow us to down, hurt us, act unfaithfully toward us, abuse us, or abandon us.
His word assures us of the right union with Him that believers must sit up for as our everlasting reality.
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, in order that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she is likely to be holy and without blemish.” – Eph. 5:25-27
“Then I heard what appeared to be the voice of a fantastic multitude, like the roar of many waters and just like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,
“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and exult and provides him the glory, for the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8 it was granted her to clothe herself with nice linen, brilliant and pure”— for the nice linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those that are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” (Rev. 19:6-9)
