We never go into our marriages pondering, I higher gather some verses for the times once we don’t see eye-to-eye and things get really hard. Yet, here you’re, wading through a season in your marriage that is really difficult, and you’re struggling.
As beautiful as marriage could be, it may well also include some emotional baggage and a pull on the heartstrings. Right? After all, it’s joined together by two flawed human beings. Should we expect anything lower than a lovingly wild adventure?
Even still, God has a purposeful design for marriage, one through which He takes our sinful nature and the schemes of the enemy all under consideration. He knows we’re apt to bend toward sin and seek selfishness, which is why He commands us to submit to at least one one other and serve out of affection (Ephesians 5:21). God can also be well aware that this relationship centered around “love” and meant for good, goes to catch the attention of the enemy, which is why He commands us to hunt Him – first (Matthew 6:33).
Can you see this delicate balance of waging war with our sin and evil while leaning into love? Of course, that is going to be difficult, and we’re going to encounter some struggles. This is the intricate beauty and beckoning of a wedding.
So, as you navigate these hard times, let’s find some truth and hope to tuck into your heart. The passages below are supposed to encourage you to lean into God’s faithfulness and His perfect love first as you step out in faith to revive what has been broken and lost in your precious marriage.
