Whether or not it’s the health of somebody we love, provision, or deliverance from a situation, we’d all prefer to be assured that once we pray our prayers will likely be answered, especially when it’s something we genuinely desire.
It’s difficult handling disappointments. When things don’t go in the way we desire at times it causes us to doubt God and pray less which can cause us to lose hope. After some time, if our prayers aren’t answered we may either quit, look to a different source, or depend upon our own strength.
“For all the guarantees of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20).
This verse reminds us that each one the guarantees of God are absolute. Let’s take a look at a few of these guarantees.
Be content, I won’t ever leave you
“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with things like you will have. For He Himself has said, “I won’t ever leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews chapter 13 verse 5).
When things aren’t going in response to our plans, we sometimes compare ourselves and our situations with that of others. However, this verse reminds us to be satisfied in our current position because God is all the time with us and he knows what’s best for us.
He will move us out of that situation when he sees fit if it’s in response to his will. When we’re discontent we’re doubting God’s ability to maintain us. We cannot all the time depend upon others nor can we depend upon material things but we are able to all the time depend upon God.
Trust God, He will direct you
“Trust within the Lord with all of your heart, and lean not on your personal understanding; In all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5-6).
The word ‘trust’ is defined as having a firm belief in the power of somebody. It also refers to freedom from doubt, hence once we trust in God, we have now confidence in Him. Having this absolute confidence in him we’d learn to depend upon him and never on ourselves.
This verse states that once we do trust him, he’ll direct us. When we follow God’s direction no matter our situation, we will likely be mindful that he knows what’s best.
God provides you with rest
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I provides you with rest.” (Matthew chapter 1 verse 28).
God wants us to return to him during our disappointments and difficulties. He is ready to present us peace during these rough times. Talk to him and tell him how you’re feeling. Let him heal your broken heart, take you thru your struggles, and take away your fears and doubts. Allow him to work in you so you can experience his peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians chapter 4 verse 7).
God’s guarantees are true, nonetheless, we have now to do our part. We have to be sure that we’re walking in the desire of God and trust that anything that happens is for our good. God will not be going to allow us to suffer unnecessarily, there’s an ultimate goal for the things we face. We may not give you the chance to see or understand it when it occurs however it does not imply that it’s in vain.
It’s inside our nature to experience disappointment and discontentment. However, we should always never allow it to eat us to the extent that we start to doubt God. Having doubt or another negative emotion is like having a small but serious wound, if not taken care of immediately it could fester and create a much greater problem.
Don’t allow your disappointments to eat you but give them to God and permit his peace and joy to sustain you.
