3 Reasons Christians Should Not Endorse Purity Culture

Purity culture teaches that a girl’s price is rooted in her sexual history. If a girl had sex before marriage, she. is seen as impure or treated as inferior. This isn’t biblical in any respect. Even if a girl has sex before marriage, it doesn’t mean she has lost any of her value. While it is right for a lady and a person to attend until marriage, we now have to acknowledge that not everyone does this. In no way does this cause an individual to lose moral ground, nor does it cause them to be a less faithful follower of Christ.

We aren’t God. Therefore, it isn’t our place to guage. If a believer chooses to have sex before marriage—whether female or male—-we know the Holy Spirit will convict them, in addition to their very own conscience. Their own shame and guilt will most certainly drown them out. How is it Christian for us so as to add to their guilt and shame? Scripture reminds us guilt and shame don’t come from God, who loves us, however the enemy, who seeks to accuse and destroy us. Alternately, we want to support, pray for, and help them know forgiveness is present in Christ.

The Bible tells us that if we ask God for forgiveness, He is faithful and can forgive us (1 John 1:9). This applies to anything, including sexual sins. Whether or not you’re a believer, after we go to God for forgiveness, He forgives. If you aren’t a believer, consider attending to know the true Jesus of the Bible. Learn about Him and experience His love for you. He died for us to have abundant and everlasting life (John 10:10, 17:3).

If you desire to place faith in Jesus today, you’ll be able to! Forgiveness and salvation are open to all. The Lord wants you to come back to know and place faith in Him. He is not going to hold your past actions against you and can wipe away all of your sins. In Him, there’s redemption, forgiveness, and a latest life. By placing faith in Jesus, believing He died on your sins, was buried, and rose again, you’ll join the family of God (John 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
