This week on social: Apostles testify of Christ, invite youth to assemble

Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints this week shared Facebook and Instagram messages on Jesus Christ, holiness and an upcoming event for youth.

President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor within the First Presidency, testified of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and urged Saints to arrange themselves day by day to fulfill Him again.

“If you knew that you simply would meet the Lord tomorrow — through premature death or through His unexpected coming — what would you do today?” President Oaks asked his social media followers.

Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson shared about her participation in dietary screenings for kids within the Philippines. The event was organized by local members as a part of the Relief Society general presidency’s Caring for Women and Children Through Improved Nutrition initiative.

Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles paid tribute to his wife’s birthday in addition to their recent 61st wedding anniversary. He invited everyone to make temple marriage a priority.

“Families, indeed, are everlasting and are central to God’s plan,” Elder Cook said.

Reflecting on the dedication of the Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple on Sunday, Jan. 14, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles encouraged Latter-day Saints to strive to be “just a little holier” every time they enter the temple.

“As we pray and ask God, ‘What lack I yet?’ (Matthew 19:20),” Elder Christofferson said, “allow us to then act on the impressions that come to us from Him.”

Sister Amy A. Wright, first counselor within the Primary general presidency, demonstrated how parents and teachers can access the updated Gospel Symbols feature within the Gospel Library app. These images may help nonverbal individuals study gospel principles.

Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles joined Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and Young Men General President Steven J. Lund on Instagram Live to ask youth to the upcoming worldwide discussion on Jan. 28. The broadcast will deal with the subject of discipleship.

To end the livestream he bore testimony of Jesus Christ and “His role as Savior and Redeemer.”

Brother Bradley R. Wilcox, first counselor within the Young Men general presidency, shared a video promoting the upcoming worldwide youth discussion on Jan. 28. The broadcast will probably be available in 11 languages on broadcasts.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

In a video on Jan. 16, the Young Men general presidency announced the launch of Young Men Worldwide on Facebook and Instagram. The accounts are intended to be a resource for young men, parents and leaders to assemble and share ideas for activities and lessons.

After recounting the prophet Lehi’s dream of the tree of life (1 Nephi 8), Brother Milton Camargo, first counselor within the Sunday School general presidency, wrote what a member of the family shared about her experience with the love of God

“Jesus Christ is the master healer. He is unchangeable; He is constant. He encircles me with His overwhelming love.”

Lehi’s vision is a component of this week’s “Come, Follow Me” study.
